In this class, you will learn how to cut and rip fabric into strips, braid it, and lace the braid together into a cushy rug! It works best to have woven fabric of natural fiber (cotton or wool), that is all of a similar weight. If you use artificial fibers or knitted material, it will not rip, so the process of making strips of fabric will take considerably longer. The instructor will have some material on hand, but as it takes quite a bit to make a rug, you will want to have your own. The instructor learned this technique from her grandma, who used old woolen clothes (blankets are a lot easier!). You will start the braiding and lacing process, with time to practice tension on a partially completed rug, but will not be finishing the rug during class. The instructor will demonstrate how to finish, she will give tips and hints on how to make your rug lie flat, and she'll describe how to care for and clean your completed rug. Registration Includes Instruction, and you'll have started a rug and you'll have learned how to finish it. Skill Level No experience necessary Best for Ages 18 and…
